Getting Started

When creating a vacancy, you'll reach the Vacancy Destinations step where you can select additional channels to publish your job beyond what's included in your package. This guide explains what destinations are available and how to use them effectively.

Understanding Destinations vs Packages

Important: Your selected package already includes specific job boards:

Package Inclusions

Free Package includes:

  • LinkedIn Jobs

  • Aggregator network (Adzuna, ZipRecruiter, Talent.com, etc.)

Unbranded Package includes:

  • Everything from Free

  • Reed.co.uk (with talentATS branding)

  • Indeed (with talentATS branding)

Branded Package includes:

  • Everything from Unbranded

  • CV-Library (with your branding)

  • Full branding across all major boards

You don't need to select these again - they're automatically included with your package selection.

What the Destinations Step Is For

The Destinations step allows you to add additional publishing channels beyond your package:

  1. Your Careers Page - Always included

  2. Social Media Posts - Share on your company's social profiles

  3. Additional Job Boards - Boards not included in your package

  4. Custom Sources - Create trackable application channels

Available Destinations

Careers Page

Automatically included with every vacancy:

  • Your company careers page at yourname.careers.talentats.ai

  • Always selected by default

  • No additional cost

  • Full control over branding and styling

  • Direct applications from your site

Social Media Platforms

Post your vacancy as a social media post on your company profiles:

Facebook

  • Post to your company's Facebook timeline

  • Not a job advertisement, but a regular post

  • Requires Facebook account connection

  • Free to use once connected

  • Good for reaching your followers and their networks

  • Best for: Local roles, community engagement, brand awareness

LinkedIn (Company Page Post)

  • Post to your company's LinkedIn page timeline

  • Regular post, not a LinkedIn Job posting

  • Requires LinkedIn company page connection

  • Free to use once connected

  • Reaches your professional network and followers

  • Best for: Professional roles, building employer brand, engaging your network

Note: This is different from LinkedIn Jobs (which is included in your package). This posts to your company's feed like a regular update.

Instagram

  • Post to your company's Instagram profile

  • Share visually with your followers

  • Requires Instagram account connection

  • Free to use once connected

  • Best for: Creative roles, visual storytelling, younger audiences, employer branding

Setting Up Social Media

To use social media destinations:

  1. Go to Settings > Publisher Credentials

  2. Connect your Facebook, LinkedIn, and/or Instagram accounts

  3. Authorise talentATS to post on your behalf

  4. Return to vacancy creation and select these destinations

Additional Job Boards

Select job boards not included in your package for extra reach:

Totaljobs

  • Major UK job board

  • Not included in any package by default

  • Additional reach if needed

  • May require separate credits or fees

Caterer

  • Specialised hospitality job board

  • Industry-specific audience

  • Perfect for hotel, restaurant, catering roles

  • Targeted reach for hospitality sector

Other Industry Boards

Depending on availability, you may see:

  • Industry-specific job boards

  • Regional job boards

  • Specialist sector boards

Note: These are in addition to your package selection and may have separate costs.

Custom Sources

Create trackable application channels with unique email addresses and URLs:

What Are Custom Sources?

Custom Sources allow you to:

  • Create a unique email address for receiving applications

  • Generate a unique URL to share externally

  • Track exactly where applications come from

  • Use for offline or external recruitment channels

How to Add a Custom Source

  1. Click Add Source in the Destinations step

  2. Enter a Source Name (e.g., "Recruitment Fair Nov 2025", "University Partnership", "Indeed Sponsored")

  3. System generates:

    • A unique email address

    • A unique URL for applications

  4. Use these for tracking applications from that specific source

Custom Source Use Cases

Recruitment Events:

  • Career fairs

  • University recruitment

  • Open days

  • Networking events

  • Use the URL or email to track applicants from each event

External Partnerships:

  • University partnerships

  • Recruitment agencies

  • Industry associations

  • Partner companies

  • Track referrals from each partner

Offline Advertising:

  • Print advertisements

  • Flyers and posters

  • Business cards

  • Direct mail campaigns

  • Track which offline channels work

Sponsored or External Postings:

  • Track performance of different channels

  • A/B test different job descriptions

  • Measure ROI on paid advertising

  • Compare free vs paid sources

Benefits of Custom Sources

  • Accurate Tracking - Know exactly where each application comes from

  • ROI Measurement - Understand which channels are worth the investment

  • Flexibility - Use for any channel not otherwise tracked

  • Organisation - Keep applications organised by source

  • Reporting - Better insights into recruitment effectiveness

How to Select Destinations

Step 1: Review Your Package

Remember what's already included:

  • Check which job boards are in your selected package

  • These are automatically published - no need to select again

  • Focus on additional channels you want to use

Step 2: Select Additional Channels

Choose from:

  • Social Media - Facebook, LinkedIn posts, Instagram

  • Additional Job Boards - Totaljobs, Caterer, or others

  • Custom Sources - Create trackable channels

Step 3: Configure Each Selection

For each destination:

  • Ensure connections are set up (social media)

  • Review any specific settings

  • Configure preferences if available

  • Note any additional costs

Step 4: Add Custom Sources

If using Custom Sources:

  1. Click Add Source

  2. Name it clearly and descriptively

  3. Note the generated email and URL

  4. Save for use in your recruitment activities

Best Practices

Social Media Strategy

Do:

  • Write engaging, social-friendly copy

  • Highlight company culture and benefits

  • Use your social media voice and tone

  • Post during peak engagement times

  • Encourage employees to share

Don't:

  • Just copy/paste the full job description

  • Post at the same time to all platforms

  • Forget to engage with comments

  • Overpost the same vacancy repeatedly

Custom Source Naming

Good naming examples:

  • "Graduate Fair Manchester Oct 2025"

  • "TechConf Sponsorship 2025"

  • "Guardian Print Ad December"

  • "Alumni Network Referrals"

  • "Partner Company XYZ"

Poor naming examples:

  • "Source 1"

  • "Test"

  • "Email"

  • "Misc"

Be specific so you can identify the source later in reporting.

Strategic Selection

Consider:

  • Which channels reach your target candidates

  • Cost vs potential return

  • Time investment for each channel

  • Your team's capacity to manage multiple channels

  • Brand consistency across channels

Tips for Success

Maximise Your Reach

  • Use social media for every vacancy (it's free!)

  • Create custom sources for tracking external channels

  • Match additional job boards to your industry

  • Don't duplicate what's in your package

Tracking and Analytics

  • Use descriptive names for custom sources

  • Track which channels deliver best candidates

  • Review source performance regularly

  • Adjust strategy based on data

Cost Management

  • Remember package already includes major job boards

  • Social media is free once connected

  • Use custom sources instead of paying for additional job boards

  • Focus budget on high-performing channels

Efficiency

  • Set up social media connections once, use for all vacancies

  • Create templates for social media posts

  • Reuse successful custom source strategies

  • Build a library of what works for different role types

FAQ

Do I need to select Indeed if it's in my package?

No. If Indeed is included in your package (Unbranded or Branded), it's automatically published. The Destinations step is for additional channels only.

What's the difference between LinkedIn in package and LinkedIn as a destination?

  • LinkedIn in package = LinkedIn Jobs (job board posting)

  • LinkedIn as destination = Post on your company's LinkedIn page timeline (social media post)

Both are valuable but serve different purposes.

How many custom sources can I create?

You can create multiple custom sources per vacancy. Create as many as you need to track different channels effectively.

Can I edit destinations after publishing?

Yes, you can edit your vacancy to add or remove additional destinations. However, your package job boards cannot be changed without creating a new vacancy.

Do social media posts cost credits?

No. Social media posting is free once you've connected your accounts. Only job board packages require payment.

Should I use every available destination?

No. Choose destinations strategically based on:

  • Where your target candidates are

  • Your capacity to manage applications

  • Cost-effectiveness

  • Brand consistency

Quality over quantity - focus on channels that work for your specific role.
